Question: A critical factor in the successful operation in today s hospital

A critical factor in the successful operation in today’s hospital system is the effective staffing of emergency room (ER) personnel. In an effort to examine this issue, Wilmington Hospital would like to determine if the average number of emergency room visits differs over the three 8 hour shifts during the day. The following table shows the number of ER visits for randomly selected 8 hour shifts. These data can also be found in the Excel file ER. xlsx.
a. Perform a one way ANOVA using α = 0.05 to determine if there is a difference in the average number of ER visits during the three shifts.
b. If warranted, perform a multiple comparison test to determine which pairs are different using α = 0.05.
c. Can you recommend a more effective way to collect these data that would enhance this analysis?
d. Verify your results with Excel or PHStat.
