A large international company often gives its managers opportunities to work in foreign countries, and is interested to see if the willingness to accept a foreign posting is related to the family status of the individual being offered the opportunity. A random sample of 190 individuals who had been offered foreign postings in the last year was gathered, as was information about whether they accepted the post, and what their family status was. (Information about family status was freely volunteered by employees.) The results are shown in Exhibit 12.37 below.
