# Question: Americans appear to be eating healthier Between 1970 and 2007

Americans appear to be eating healthier. Between 1970 and 2007 the per capita consumption of broccoli increased 1000% from 0.5 to 5.5 pounds. A nutritionist followed a group of people randomly assigned to one of three groups and noted their monthly broccoli intake (in pounds). At α = 0.05 is there a difference in means?

Assume that all variables are normally distributed, that the samples are independent, and that the population variances are equal. Also, for each exercise, perform the following steps.

a. State the hypotheses and identify the claim.

b. Find the critical value.

c. Compute the test value.

d. Make the decision.

e. Summarize the results, and explain where the differences in the means are.

Use the traditional method of hypothesis testing unless otherwise specified.
