As you read in this chapter, the Statute of Frauds was originally designed to protect innocent persons from the perjury of others with respect to oral contracts. Many legal scholars now believe that the act has caused more fraud than it has prevented. What do you think? Should the Statute of Frauds be repealed by state governments?
