DeAngelis Global Research is comparing the current economic climate for small businesses in France, Germany and Italy by randomly selecting a sample of 100 small businesses from each country and determining the proportion of small businesses in each sample that filed for bankruptcy during the past year. For the French sample, the proportion was .17; for the German sample it was .26; and for the Italian sample, it was .28. Use the chi square distribution to test the hypothesis that the proportion of all small businesses that filed for bankruptcy within the last year is the same for the three countries. Use a significance level of 5%.
