Education has long been considered the ticket for upward mobility in the United States. In today’s information age, a college education has become the minimum level of educational attainment needed to enter an increasingly competitive market for jobs with more than subsistence wages. A report based on information from the American Fact Finder and the 2007 American Community Survey gave the following percentages of population that have attained a bachelor’s degree or higher by state.
a. Prepare a grouped frequency distribution for the percentage of population by state that has attained a bachelor’s degree or higher using class midpoints 15, 20, 25, . . . 50.
b. List the class boundaries.
c. Construct a relative frequency histogram of these data.
