Go to the IRS Web site, www.irs.gov and under “Learn About IRS,” select “Tax Stats, Facts, & Figures.” Then consult statistics regarding estate and gift taxes. Finally, select “Gift Tax—Gift Tax One Sheet.” Compare the number of nontaxable gift tax returns filed for 2008 with those for 2013. Also compare the number of taxable returns filed for 2008 with those for 2013. In addition, for 2013 indicate the total amount of nontaxable and taxable gifts reported.
