In the situation of the preceding problem, suppose that courts want to choose a standard (either reliance damages or expectation damages) that induces efficient behavior. Having worked the preceding problem, judges are aware that one of these standards results in contracts being broken when and only when it is efficient for them to be broken. (And, having worked the problem, they know which standard has this property.)
