Project Description:

examine personnel/human resource management (p/hrm) function and related activities. the course focuses on the strategic importance of this function for effective management and organizational success. students will assess the impact of the external environment (e.g., laws, regulations and the economy) on the human resource function and gain skills in environmental scanning. they will examine how organizations integrate the demands of the external environment with the needs of the organization. students will analyze the relationships among organizational strategies and hr policies/procedures. finally, students will focus on understanding sub-functions of hr and how they are integrated with other functions of the organization (e.g., finance, operations, marketing). the sub-functions include: job analysis and design, recruitment and selection, compensation and motivation, training and development, employee rights and discipline, and labor-management relations.
