Refer to Exercise. Calculate the coefficient of determination and the least squares line. Is this more informative than the scatter diagram?
In exercise, a very large contribution to profits for a movie theater is the sales of popcorn, soft drinks, and candy. A movie theater manager speculated that the longer the time between showings of a movie, the greater the sales of concession items. To acquire more information, the manager conducted an experiment. For a month he varied the amount of time between movie showings and calculated the sales. Use a graphical technique to help the man-ager determine whether longer time gaps produces higher concession stand sales.
