Activity 1.1 Get hold of an annual report and accounts for three UK public limited liability companies. Guidance: If some of your friends or relatives have shares in a company they should automatically receive a copy of that company's report and accounts. See if they will let you have it. Otherwise select three companies and write to the company secretary. Most companies will let you have a set without any questions being asked. You may also be able to download some reports from the Internet. Choose commercial or industrial com- panies and avoid banking and insurance companies as they have different requirements. Note: It is important that you do this activity and have some annual reports and accounts available otherwise you will find it more difficult to work your way through this chapter and the next.
