Question:
Repeat the analysis in Section 22. 3 for the case when cooling water is used in the heat exchanger in place of boiler feed water. The cooling water enters at \(30^{\circ} \mathrm{C}\) and must exit at \(45^{\circ} \mathrm{C}\).
Data from section 22.3

In Section 22.2. it was noted how the performance of a distillation column was affected by the performance of the reboiler and condenser. It was possible to analyze the reboiler. column. and condenser sequentially in order to solve the scale-down problem In this section, the performance of a reactor in which the large, exothermic heat of reaction is removed by a heat transfer fluid is examined. It will be seen that the bottleneck for scale-up of this process is the performance of the heat removal loop. The analysis of this problem is more complex than for the distillation column, because all units involved must be analyzed simultaneously in order to solve the problem The problem to be analyzed is illustrated in Figure 22.4. It is a part of the allyl chloride problem discussed in more detail in Appendix C. on the accompanying CD.
