Mitchell’s 1980s program used symbolic AI to answer questions like “If a b c changes to a b d, what does i j k change to” with “i j l.” In some cases GPT-3 can replicate this behavior, using only its pretrained model plus about four lines of prompt showing how the pattern of question and answer work. Experiment with a large-scale NLP text generation system to see how well it does with analogies using letters and numbers like this.
