The scheduler for a softball league is in the process of scheduling the umpires for each game in the coming week. There are five games in the coming week and six umpires are available. Every game needs exactly one umpire and an umpire can be scheduled for no more than one game in the week. The following table shows the number of times each umpire has been assigned to at least one of the two teams in a game thus far in the season. For example, Umpire 2 has previously been assigned to one of the teams playing in Game 1 three times. The objective of the scheduler is to assign umpires to the games so as to minimize the number of times the umpires have previously been paired with these teams.

a. Formulate a model that will assign umpires to games and minimize the sum of the number times the umpires have been assigned to their assigned teams previously in the season.
b. Solve the model you constructed in part (a). Which umpire is assigned to each game? Which umpire is unassigned?
