Pick a nonprofit group you care about. Examples include a professional organization, a charitable group, a community organization, or your own college or university.

As your instructor directs,

a. Use one of the websites listed in Figure 12.5 to find a foundation that makes grants to groups such as yours. Brainstorm a list of businesses that might be willing to give money for specific projects. Check to see whether state or national levels of your organization make grants to local chapters.

b. Write a proposal to obtain funds for a special project your group could undertake if it had the money. Address your proposal to a specific organization.

c. Write a proposal to obtain operating funds or money to buy something your group would like to have. Address your proposal to a specific organization.
