Recovery after a general anesthetic refers to the period of time 

a. from the beginning of anesthesia until the patient is ready for surgery. 

b. during the surgery when anesthesia is maintained at a certain level. 

c. from discontinuation of the anesthetic until the patient has regained consciousness, movement, and the ability to communicate. 

d. when the patient is in the most danger of CNS depression.
