The engines are powered by burning liquid fuel, and the gaseous by-products (primarily carbon dioxide and water) are vented to the atmosphere, but nothing else enters or leaves the system. Some descriptions of this situation are given below. For each, indicate whether it is true or false, and explain why.

A. The system is at a steady state, because its velocity is constant. However, it is not at equilibriumthe fact that the ship is moving indicates that the forces are not balanced.
