A crew member of the Havertown, Pennsylvania, Chipotle responded to a customer’s tweet, “Free chipotle is the best thanks,” by tweeting, “nothing is free, only cheap #labor. Crew members only make $8.50hr how much is that steak bowl really?” In replying to a tweet about Chipotle guacamole posted by another customer, the crew member wrote, “it’s extra not like #Qdoba, enjoy the extra $2.” Under the direction of Chipotle’s social media strategist, the regional manager told the employee to delete the tweets.
