Figure P5–48 shows part of a support bar for a heavy machine, suspended on springs to soften applied loads. The tensile load on the bar varies from 12,500 lb to a minimum of 7500 lb. Rapid cycling for many million cycles is expected. The bar is made from SAE 6150 OQT 1300 steel. Compute the design factor for the bar in the vicinity of the hole.
