For this exercise, your instructor may assign you to a group. Each group member should do all of the following.
a. Search sources such as a local newspaper, cnn.com, bloomberg.com, the Wall Street Journal, or the New York Times for one firm that you believe is in a monopolistically competitive industry and another firm that is in an industry that is an oligopoly.
b. For each firm selected, write down the source of your information and briefly explain why you think the firm is in an industry that is monopolistically competitive or in an industry that is an oligopoly.
c. Meet as a group and select the best example of a monopolistically competitive firm and the best example of an oligopoly firm. Describe the reason the group decided on its specific examples by identifying several characteristics and behaviors of each firm.
