This activity is useful in assessing the relative value of specific intrinsic and extrinsic rewards both with and among individuals. As an option in conducting the exercise, you have students conduct the individual phase (I) and then form the students into groups and have each group develop its group list of the eight most important rewards. Then examine intergroup differences in open class discussion. In the discussion, several differences across groups should be evident. It's useful to focus on those differences and have students discuss the factors accounting for the differences.
