Question:
Locate a news article from a well-established and respected business publication (Wall Street Journal, Economist, Bloomberg’s Business week, New York Times) that covers our current economic condition, including at least three of the topics we have covered in our reading and discussions.
Provide a commentary that ties the particulars of the article to the topics, and discusses the interrelationships of the issues. (As an example, if the article discusses falling unemployment, mainly, but also mentions rising GDP, you might tie the two together through a discussion of the business cycle.)
Identify anything that might be missing from the article. (Continuing with first example, falling unemployment could be the result of rising output, and also the result of workers leaving the workforce.) Predict some other economic conditions or changes that might result from the situation that is the subject of the article. (Again, continuing with the first example, falling unemployment and rising GDP will likely reduce the federal government’s budget deficit.)
The article should be strictly news or news and analysis (which often come from WSJ and Economist).
