i think the best example of a natural hazard and how it interacted with various human actions was hurricane katrina. Hurricane katrina was an absolute devastating mess, that most of it could have been prevented. Sadly most of the predications that were made about New Orleans were correct and no one really listened. The levees in New Orleans were only designed for a category 3 hurricane, when hurricane katrina was a category 5. New Orleans is above sea level and surrounded by nothing but water and people still chose to keep building businesses, homes and etc. in this area knowing the possible risk. New Orleans has been flooded multiple times not just in 2005, but six more times before that. i think people refusing to better prepare, still choosing to live in a dangerous area that is at a potential for a natural disaster and not having better procedures and prevention in place can make any natural disaster worse.
