Sony is part of one of the most competitive industries out there - technology. Supply chain management is very important for this reason. The technology industry is very quick-changing. New products are brought out every few months, and customers want the newest and best items. Being such a big name in the industry, Sony has remained so successful because of their ability to forecast needs on a real-time level. Sony enlisted Fujitsu to create a system that would allow them to do just that. By being able to predict in real-time, Sony is able to keep a constant flow of information going. This allows Sony to not have too little or too much stock at any given time. Because this industry is constantly getting rid of old products to make way for new products, it is very important that Sony does not over-forecast their inventory. Technology is also a very hot industry, and consumers want the latest product as soon as it is available. This makes it very important that Sony is able to get the right amount of inventory in on time so that they can meet demands. With the help of Fujitsu, Sony is able to keep this information up-to-date. Without this, I do not believe they would have been able to remain as successful as they are
