You are required to go into the ‘field’ and conduct ethnographic research on substance users (substances can include both legal drugs, such as caffeine, nicotine, alcohol, prescription drugs; or illegal substances such as cocaine, heroin, methamphetamine, marijuana, club drugs, etc). This means observing your friends, family members, coworkers, or people you know as they consume substances. You can make observations one time, or you can make a series of observations over time.

What were his findings in terms of crack and meth users, and the general addictiveness of crack and meth? How does his own background influence his research? What arguments does he make about the pharmacological effects of crack and meth vs. the environment they are used in? How do his arguments challenge most public opinion or beliefs around crack, as well as prior research about the addictiveness of crack and meth?
