Question:
- 1. Marriage has over the past centuries and the meaning and roles of what marriage was. Examples of changing marriages would be one spouse having more than one partner or the other one having more than one partner. Others are believed to be married to spirits or the dead. The type of people someone marries has also changed over the years such as race, ethnicity, and sex which has been a big positive change in today's world. These changes of having more than one spouse have started centuries ago and people marrying different races or same-sex have recently started since it was prohibited. These are major changes in marriages that have not caused a decline. Families today are happier than in the past because of the multicultural relationships.
- 2. Declining is saying that individuals are becoming less reliable or responsible, there is less commitment to the said family, and with that are becoming more selfish. I think one question to ask is who in these families are these applying too? If it is towards the mother figure perhaps they are working or busy providing while the father figure or other parent is home with the children. With that question, I think it shows that these families changing and some may assume that's bad which leads to the idea of decline. The social roles of these genders are changing creating different dynamics in households. These changes create different relationships with members of the family which can change the way a "typical" family is supposed to be seen, perhaps the idea of non-typical is to some seen as not a family, which is not correct in any way.
