 Evaluating After-School Tutoring Program-Plan

Background Information:

The after-school tutoring program I plan to evaluate is run by a local nonprofit organization and takes place at 3 elementary schools in low-income neighborhoods. The program provides free 1-on-1 tutoring to students in grades 3-5 who are struggling academically. Tutoring sessions focus on reading, writing, and math and last for 1 hour after school 2 days per week. The program runs for the full academic year from September to June.

Purpose:

Evaluate the program to see if it is achieving its main goal of improving academic performance for participating students. An external education policy organization has also requested evaluation data to potentially use as a model program.

Stakeholders:

Key stakeholders I plan to involve include program administrators, tutors, students, parents, teachers, and school principals.
