3. A steam power plant operates on an ideal reheat-regenerative Rankine cycle and has a net power output of 120 MW. Steam enters the turbine at 10 MPa and 550 C, then leaves at 0.8 MPa. Some fraction (y) of the extracted steam at this pressure (0.8 MPa) is used to heat the feedwater in an open FWH. The rest of the extracted steam (1-y) at 0.8 MPa is directed to the isobaric reheater to be heated to 500 C and then enters the low-pressure turbine to expand until 10 kPa and then exit to enter the condenser.
