Question:
3) While formal treatment of queueing is not a part of the course, we can use the Netlogo software to educate your intuition about these queueing systems. For this exercise, go to https://ccl.northwestern.edu/netlogo/. You can either download the software or use the web version. Next, download this model: http://modelingcommons.org/browse/one_model/5086 (a link to the model will be provided in Canvas as well). When you load this into Netlogo, you will get the following screen:
a) Please be sure to set the "number-of-servers" to 1, the "mean-service-time" to 1 and the "mean-arrival-rate" to 0.4 and the "stats-reset-time" to the maximum. Press "Setup" and then "Go". To observe the dynamic behavior of the system, you may wish to slow the speed by changing the "model speed" slider to about ¼. Start the simulation by clicking on "Go". After the model has run for a while, what are the stats that you observe in the upper row of the yellow boxes? Note that these vary dynamically, so a "typical" value is fine. You can stop the simulation by clicking on "Go" again. Note that you have to click on "setup" again each time you change parameters!
