Question:
It is evident that society at large and the economy, business environment and workplace have changed irrevocably. Environmental complexity and dynamism have catalysed a major shift in how businesses are run and how people and teams are managed. Managers and leaders thus play pivotal roles in their organisations becoming more agile and more responsive to customer and stakeholder needs and in empowering the workforce to decide when, where and how their work is done.
This activity will enable you to critically evaluate the contributions that managers and leaders make to their organisations, and the challenges they face, in managing and leading in the new era. Identify an organisation of your choice from the world of business, sport or computing/technology. In 100 words maximum, address the following:
- critically evaluate the contributions that the organization's managers and leaders have made to prepare the business for working in the new era
- what challenges do the management and leadership team face in a new era, and how will these challenges impact the workforce and organizational success?
Post your answers on the Discussion Board and compare and contrast your findings with at least one of your peers.
The next section covers a very topical issue, both in the workplace and in the literature.
