• After distinguishing between the concepts of Motivation and Emotion, describe types of motivation & elements of emotion; then, paraphrase the theories of both motivation and emotion by identifying which single theory explains your state in terms motivation and emotion.
• Assume that you are very hungry and you saw a person eating food in a hotel as you pass by. What will you do as a person who is in an extreme state of hunger? Let us say you probably go to join the person in satisfying your hunger or decide to leave the area. Explain this situation by using psychoanalytic theory of Sigmund Freud in the structure of personality. Describe the structures of personality that continually interact with each other to form our personality. Discuss the psychological coping mechanisms we use to deal with the conflict and among parts of our personality.
• In one village there were groups of youngsters who returned from war; they were all good performing students with a normal behavior. After they returned from the war as veterans, they have started showing behavior that is out of the norm, maladaptive & disruptive of the social system. All of them were drug addict, they steal and rob, they insult & disrespect people in their community, sometimes they are depressed, some of them go naked on the streets, sometimes they get in to a group fight. Consequently, the community headed to a big problem and wanted to punish those youngsters with impunity. But, as a professional you are given the chance to help those youngsters to get back to the normal track. Answer the following questions based on the case:
• How do you approach the youth in this situation?
• What is the issue/problem with the youth?
• What criteria are you going to use to determine their mental health status?

• Assume that you only have a month to live due a chronic health problem. How are you going to live the last month of your life? Are you going to stress yourself out and die shortly before a month? Are you going to commit suicide than to live stressful and painful month at the end of your life? Or are you going to enjoy the last month of your life and order things accordingly for people in your life with resilience and calm?.  Discuss the stress coping mechanism that you apply and how you will be more resilient to the situation. What mechanism are you going to focus on to deal with the stress? Your health problem/the stressor or your emotion? Discuss which of the two approaches of stress coping mechanism you apply and why?. 
• Do you have a goal in terms of your career? Discuss what you have lost if you do not have one in your experience & discuss what a goal is and the purpose of setting a goal.
• What is conflict and what are its sources? Discuss the different approaches of conflict resolution by comparing the two approaches of win-win and win-lose on their advantages and disadvantages.
• What do you require to live harmoniously in a diversified society like Ethiopia by managing cultural differences?
