She is a devout Jewish woman who has always expressed a deep faith and pride in her Jewish heritage. She has always kept a kosher lifestyle. Lately, however, Mrs. Goldstein has started demanding that the staff give her ham for her meals—something that she would never have requested in her rational state. When they refuse, Mrs. Goldstein gets upset. The staff are uncertain of how to respond. Some believe she should be given ham in order to quiet her and keep her calm, while other staff members believe it would be a violation of her lifelong commitment to keeping kosher.
