Question:
Answer the following questions.
1. Coaching education programs are seen by some people as a sure way to improve organized
sport programs for children. You are working for a Parks and Recreation Department in a large
city, and you have been asked to outline the features of a coaching education program that will
bring about needed changes in youth sports. Use material in the text, as well as outside
resources, to identify the issues that you would consider to be important as you put together
the outline.
2. The disabled population is supported by various laws, including the ADA, yet they still face
access issues when it comes to athletic participation. What are some of the barriers of
participation for these individuals? How can these barriers be lessened?
3. "Intercollegiate athletes need a union to lobby for changes in how they are treated in sport
programs." This is a controversial statement. Do you agree or disagree? Why or why not?
