Question:
As a citizen of the United States, I believe that national security and defense should always be a concern and priority. Thus, all exporters that wish to export to a hostile country of the United States and its allies should be carefully reviewed and approved. Such countries such as Iran, Russia, and North Korea would be countries to pay close attention to. We do not want to find ourselves in a position where we are aiding and supplying countries that are actively working against us. For example, if we supply Russia with equipment and supplies that could be used to aid in the war effort against Ukraine, who we are actively supporting financially and militarily. There may be cases where it may not be possible to determine if the export would aid or be detrimental to the U.S. In those cases, the safest and obvious choice is to prevent the export entirely. It pays to be better safe than sorry. Also, profitability should not be a factor when choosing to export to hostile countries. While it could benefit the U.S. financially, it could potentially backfire on us later. As a result, every exporter must require special permission prior to exports being allowed to the countries in question.
Do you agree? why or why not?
Most countries create a list of "hostile" countries that require special permission before an exporter will be allowed to proceed. Which countries and products would you place on such a list for your nation, and why?
