As a mechatronic engineer, you have been asked to prepare a study of the requirements for designing a humanoid robot system to carry out repetitive tasks. The proposed system has a mobile robot, two manipulators, and an IP camera, as shown in the following diagram. Manpulsions P Camera • The mobile robot has two DC motors for driving and steering. Eight infrared sensors are used for obstacle avoidance. • Each manipulator is a 4-DOF where THREE joints are accomplished with DC servo drives, and the robot gripper is controlled by an ON-OFF signal. Each joint has an analog position sensor and TWO micro switches for safety control. The DC motor drive unit has two control lines; a PWM signal and a direction signal. Now apply the concepts of distributed embedded real-time systems to design the required real-time system. Your study will cover the following: 1. List the required sensors and actuators and specify their type (analog or digital)? 2. Draw the general layout of the microcomputer-based embedded system? 3. List the specification of the required microcontroller that you recommended for your design? 4. List sequence of activities executed by the microcontroller?
