PLANT 1: Vapour compression refrigeration plant with • Refrigerant R-12 • 110 kW Cooling Capacity • Evaporator pressure is 2.61 bar • Condenser pressure is 9.607 bar. • Vapour is dry saturated entering the compressor Liquid leaves the condenser at 35 °C. • Compression is isentropic PLANT 2: Vapour compression refrigeration plant with • Refrigerant R-134a • 110 kW compressor • Evaporator pressure is 2.43 bar • Condenser pressure is 14.91 bar. • Vapour is dry saturated entering the compressor • Liquid leaves the condenser at 45 °C. • Compression is isentropic Note: The cost of refrigerant in Plant lis three (3) times the cost of that in Plant 2 (a) Demonstrate by calculations which of the Plant you will select, and state the three (3) critical criteria that influenced your decision.
