Coincidentally, I had a moment at work in this past week where management did not communicate a change in process to the employees. The change was in a pricing matrix we use to determine how much of a commission the vendor will receive when they sell a product of ours. This change not only effects the amount we pay to the vendor, but it effects the amount we keep and record to revenue. These further effects how much the company pays in taxes for the year and potentially affects the customers who purchased the products. Obviously, this was a major issue from all perspectives. Luckily, this issue was caught quickly, and the issues were fixed. However, this issue was entirely preventable if the management had just communicated the change in pricing to the accounting and IT departments in the first place. The issue is severe when dealing with other people's money and items that hit our income. As this is not the first time it has happened it shows a consistent lack of communication between certain departments. All departments are vital the to company working effectively and efficiently, and to keep the work flowing as it should the departments need to keep communicating.
