Basic Instructions
Do all your work in Command Mode and save it in a diary named Assignment2.txt. You are to hand in a hard copy of the diary along with filled-in answers to the Answer Sheet for the 12 questions that you obtain from the instructions. We give you the expected appearance of the diary below. Here’s what to do:
Preparation Work (downloads)
Download the file HW2.mat and put it into the Hack folder for the course. Then start the diary for the assignment and put the contents of the workspace (a row vector x of 100,000 elements) into your workspace with the command load 'HW2'. You are now ready to do the Assignment. Format the diary as I’ve suggested. When you’re finished, upload both the diary AND the filled-in Answer Sheet. You will need to download the HW2.mat file and the Assignment 2 Answer Sheets.docx, both in the CTEC 247 Fall 2023Links to an external site.>Assignments>Assignment 2 folder to do this assignment.
Work to be Done
Write code in Command mode to answer the questions that follow, and then fill in the answers corresponding to each question on the boxes on the Answer Sheets provided:
- Find the mean value, the maximum value, and the minimum value of the elements in x.
- Find the count of the number of elements in x with a value that is less than the mean.
- Find the index and value of the first element in x that is greater than 11. Fill in the answers to this question in the appropriate space on the Answer Sheet.
- Find the count of the number of elements in x that are greater than the value 8.5
- Find the count of the number of elements in x that are less than the value 1.0
- Find the count of the number of elements in x with values lying between 1 and 6.
- In the appropriate place provided on the answer sheet, write the index value and the value of the 60,000th element in x that lies between the values of 1 and 6.
- Starting with the 40,000th element and ending with the 50,000th element of x, find the count of the number of elements whose values lie between 3.5 and 9.5.
- Starting with the 50,000th element in x and continuing through the remaining elements, find the count of the number of elements whose value is greater than 9.
- Starting with the 50,000th element in x and continuing through the remaining elements, find the index value (with respect to all 100,000 elements in x) of the 65th element in this range that is greater than 9. Write the answer in the appropriate places on the answer sheet.
- Using either the sort or the find function, find the index values of the lowest and highest elements in the vector x.
- Use the sort function to find the value and x index of the 750th, 7500th and 75000th smallest values in the vector x. Write the answers in the appropriate spaces on the answer sheet.
Additional Instructions
Clearly, you are to upload the diary file as .txt and the Answer Sheet(s) as Word files .doc or .docx. I will not accept the diary file as a Word file. Nor will I accept the answer sheets as anything but Word files. You can work in teams of two to do this project. You need only submit one diary for the two members along with one answer sheet.
