Capstone Project Overview
OpenEdX is an organization dedicated to open-source education and providing institutions with a variety of Learning Management tools. Recently OpenEdX was contracted by learn.edu to build a tool for tracking student performance. The proposed solution should track the following fields:
- First name.
- Last name.
- Course name.
- Grade (letters A-F).
Milestones:Milestone 1 - Personas
Generate three personas to represent users of OpenEdX's new product. Describe each persona using a minimum of ten descriptive characteristics. Those characteristics must include:
- Name.
- Distinguishing characteristics that could impact design.
- Photo, illustration, icon, or emoji.
- Feature(s) the persona would use most often (i.e., most important features).
- Feature(s) the persona would not commonly use.
- Needs the application can meet for this persona.
- Computer skill level.
- Note: add three or more additional elements of your choice.
Milestone 2 - User Stories
Write fifteen or more SCRUM user stories for the GradeBook application's functionality. Use the following story format: "As a [type of user], I want [functionality], so that [justification]."
- Ensure at least five stories are written for the first persona identified in milestone 1.
- Ensure at least five stories are written for the second persona identified in milestone 1.
- Ensure at least five stories are written for the third persona identified in milestone 1.
- Document any assumptions you made when writing the stories.
- Stories can be presented in a numbered or bulleted list format.
Milestone 3 - Story Decomposition/Tasking
Using two (2) user stories you just developed in milestone 2, break each story down into at least five smaller tasks.
- Identify at least five smaller tasks to complete the first story you selected. These can be user interface design and/or development-related activities.
- Identify at least five smaller tasks to complete the second story you selected. These can be user interface design and/or development-related activities.
- Store your results in a table or matrix format that you will add to milestone 3. Stories and tasks should be rows within the table/matrix.
Milestone 4 - Sizing/Estimation
For each task at the user story level, estimate the "size" of the effort. Use standard story points to represent each work effort.
- Building upon the table containing the stories and tasks from the previous milestones, create a column for Points. Estimate the number of points for each user story. Use the Fibonacci sequence for the point values and do not exceed 8 story points. In other words, only use 0, 1, 2, 3, 5, and 8.
Deliverables
- Combine all milestones in a single Word document and include your name, date, and assignment number.
