Question:
Compare and contrast the two conflicts in your own words.
1. My team was disrupted by a colleague's behavior at work recently, and I had to confront him about the issue. As a result of the conflict, I chose to take a collaborative approach, listening to the other person's viewpoint as well as expressing my own. We were able to come up with a solution that worked for both of us by taking a collaborative approach. Both of us responded to conflict collaboratively in this situation. In order to find a mutually beneficial solution, we both listened to each other's perspectives. To resolve the conflict, I used active listening to ensure I understood the other person's perspective. I also asked clarifying questions to make sure I was accurately comprehending their perspective. I also used reflective statements to demonstrate that I was listening and to ensure that both parties were heard. Finally, I used open-ended questions to allow for both parties to brainstorm solutions. Overall, I used a combination of communication strategies to effectively resolve the conflict.
2.In this scenario, a coworker and I had a disagreement about the allocation of tasks for a group project. My coworker demonstrated an avoidance response to the conflict, as they were unwilling to engage in a direct conversation about the issue. I, on the other hand, used active listening and compromise as communication strategies to resolve the conflict. We were able to find a solution that satisfied both of our needs and complete the project successfully.
