Question:
Conduction Evaluation A prototype design for the possible decentralized synthesis of chemicals has been designed. Details of the reactor core are attached below. It was 3D printed using our SLA printers at Makerspace. An inner electrode shown in the next slide is needed. It will be placed inside to provide cheap electrons from renewable energy and allow the reaction to proceed. The electrode is made of stainless steel and has OD 19mm and ID 17 mm. Modeling the reactor as a multilayer conduction wall problem. Determine:
a) The outer surface temperature of the reactor wall, if air is in between the solid layers and a discharge of 10 watts is directly provided to the stainless-steel electrode. Assume the reactor made of 1) FormLabs v4 Clear resin and of 2) quartz. Also assume stagnant air so you can provide a pure conduction evaluation of cylindrical layers.
b) Repeat calculations when air is replaced by hydrogen.
c) Provide a thermal profile for a) and b) and compare the reactor wall in your analysis.
d) Provide a complete detailed report with calculations, diagrams and analysis.
