CoursCTIOTIC CONECTIC DISCUSSTOTIS Class Progress Course TOOTS LIDI DI y Discussions List > View Topic Week 2 - Substitution Subscribe This discussion will be a version of Calculus musical chairs, except there will be enough seats for everyone! First, start working through this week's Thinkwell review material about taking derivatives with the chain rule (1.3), and that you have completed last week's material about antiderivatives and substitution (2.1 and 2.2). For your initial post, take your favorite composite "function-in-a-function" and find its derivative using the chain rule. Please don't just use polynomials and powers, use trig functions, exponential functions, roots - anything you know the derivative of. And you can even multiply the result by a constant to make it more interesting or "simpler". It must be something that you need the chain rule for. Then, using your name as the title, write an indefinite integral using your result and post it. DO NOT tell us what your original function was! That will be your initial post, and will get you 4 of the 10 possible points for the discussion. It is due by Wednesday at 11:55 PM. The other 6 points will be earned by choosing one of your fellow students' problems, and solving it by substitution. You should work through 2.3 in Thinkwell before posting your answer (more about substitution) before posting V Settin CoursCTIOTIC CONECTIC DISCUSSTOTIS Class Progress Course TOOTS LIDI DI y Discussions List > View Topic Week 2 - Substitution Subscribe This discussion will be a version of Calculus musical chairs, except there will be enough seats for everyone!
