Discussion questions: Immanual Kant

1. Is it ever right to lie? Why (not)?
2. Is it possible to carry out the calculation required in order to determine whether or not an action is universalizable? What would it involve?
3. Isn’t Kant correct? A compassionate philanthropist may well be helping people but it’s in her own interests to do so; moral actions are those motivated by duty. Morality is difficult – that’s the point!
