Draw 1-ft. contours (37' to 44') to complete the grading plan for the site shown in Figs
Question:
Draw 1-ft. contours (37' to 44') to complete the grading plan for the site shown in Figs 5.20, 5.21, 5.26. The scale is 30':1" (if printed at scale of 100%). Design criteria to keep in mind are:
a) Pitch the parking lot to the middle and drain to the CB (TF 38.8). Hint: your 40' contour will run along the curb at times.
b) Use a max slope of 3:1 to go from the HP (44.8') to the west end of the parking lot.
c) Draw a swale between the oak stand and the building to direct runoff from the HPS (40.6') to the TF (37.0'). Avoid grading under the drip line of the oaks as much as possible (i.e., don't grade under the trees. It will kill them!)
d) Show positive drainage away from the building on all sides. Use a max slope of 2:1. Hint: Compare the building pad elevations to the TW elevations around the South and East sides of the building to decide which contour lines belong there.
e) Tie all proposed contours off to existing contours or other objects (curbs, walls, etc.)
f) Final hint: you will have multiple 40' (and other) contour lines that do not connect to each other!
