Draw a 5-bit full adder using five1-bit full adders to add two 5-bit numbers A and B.
Question:
Draw a 5-bit full adder using five1-bit full adders to add two 5-bit numbers A and B.
You may use 2 input/1 output AND, OR, XOR and 1 input/1 output NOT gates. See
Module 2.1 (Lecture 3B) slide 12 for an example of a 1-bit full adder.
Hint: Your circuit will have the following inputs and outputs:
Five A inputs labelled A0, A1, A2, A3, A4
Five B inputs labelled B0, B1, B2, B3, B4
Initial Carry-In input labelled Carry-In0
Final Carry-out output labelled Carry-out5
Five SUM outputs labelled Sum0, Sum1, Sum2, Sum3, Sum4s
Note: There will be 4 Carry-In inputs and 4 Carry-Out outputs inside the circuit that are
used to connect the full adders but that are not considered as outputs for the circuit.
These 4 internal wires do not need to be labelled.
This question is worth 1 mark.
