Greenwood Family Medicine has an issue with their preventive care services and they are not being done
Question:
Greenwood Family Medicine has an issue with their preventive care services and they are not being done or recorded from their children patients. They 5 clinicians,4 nurses, and 3 medical record employees are noticing that there is no record of certain preventive measure being checked for their younger patients, such as blood pressure checks or vision screenings. The clinicians, nurses, and medical record employees are working to find a solution to the issue by creating forms to fill out to ensure they are doing certain measures for their patients. The problem at hand is the preventive measures not being done and the issue is causing problems with the team performance. The only way that a healthcare facility can successfully run is by using team performance to ensure everyone is working towards the same goal. Without the whole team working together, problems start to arise. The team performance is also causing patient care to be lacking due to no one working together. The patient's are not getting the proper care for their health and the office needs to work together to achieve their goals to make sure their patients are taken care of correctly.
As a healthcare manager there needs to be certain processes in place to try and improve the quality of care that the patients should be getting at the Greenwood Family Medicine practice. I would suggest hiring more employees that would be full time able to help with the process of the forms and preparing for the following patients to ensure the preventive care services are being completed. Also, the whole team is not working as a unit and doing their own thing, instead of working together to accomplish the end goal of helping the patients. Communication would be the key problem in this office and there would need to be processes out into place to have everyone in the office communicate properly to get the problem resolved.
In my current job there have been times when this type of miscommunication and lack of teamwork have caused issues within my department. As a team lead it is up to me to determine what the change needs to be and how to have the team work together. This miscommunication can affect the team performance because there is more effort and understanding within the department between everyone. This case study shows how even the smallest lack of communication and cooperation between the staff can affect more than just the office?
