Question:
Human service organizations require strong and effective leadership. Understanding what qualities make up an effective leader and how these qualities can be cultivated is of critical importance for human service workers who will eventually assume management responsibilities.
Identify and complete a leadership analysis of an individual that they believe demonstrates effective leadership qualities, characteristics, and skills. The leader you choose must have worked in a supervisory or management role that you worked or volunteered under. This person could be engaged in any field of endeavor (human services, government, business, community, etc).
Identify the leadership characteristics and skills and provide examples of how the characteristics and skills were demonstrated. Learners will discuss which of these qualities they believe were natural (inherent) abilities and which were developed through personal effort, training, and experience.
