Question:
Find the theoretical yield of benzoic acid and benzyl alcohol using these equations
2 C6H5CHO + NaOH →C6H5CH2OH + C6H5COONa.
Benzoic acid is then produced by adding HCl to aqueous phase.
C6H5COONa + HCl → C6H5COOH + NaCl.
We used 3.0mL of benzaldehyde and 6.0mL 50% KOH. Find the theoretical yield of both benzyl alcohol and benzoic acid.
