Important Notice: Part B of the Report is an individual assessment item. Students should work on their own and use their data that were collected in Part A (You should have received some feedback of Part A from your teacher). Instructions: All numerical calculations and graphs/plots should be done using EXCEL. Your assignment must be typed in a Word document in .doc or .docx format! How to upload to Moodle: A dropbox link exists on Moodle where you will be required to upload your work (If you are not sure, ask your teacher in one of your practical lab session). In Part B of this Report Project, you are required to refer to your dataset and answer the following questions and answer Questions 1, 2, 3 and 4. Using the data collected in Part A of this Report and using EXCEL, answer the following questions. QUESTION 1 [10 marks] (a) (b) Which graphical chart should be used if the researcher is interested in comparing data from different categories? Explain the reason for the selection of this graphical chart. Construct the chart and describe what you can observe. 5 marks Which graphical technique or chart should be used if the researcher is interested in describing the proportion of one categorical variable in your data? Explain the reason for the selection of this graphical chart. Construct the chart and describe what you can observe about the proportion. 5 Marks QUESTION 2 [6 marks] A researcher wishes to use graphical descriptive methods to present a summary of the data. (a) (b) (c) Consider one column with a numerical variable in your dataset. How many observations do you have in this column? The researcher then suggests using 6 class intervals to construct a histogram for this variable. Explain how the researcher would have decided on the number of class intervals as 6. 2 marks The researcher suggests using 6 classes for the numerical variable selected in part a). Explain how the researcher would have decided the class. 1 mark Draw a histogram for this variable using appropriate BIN values from part (b) and comment on the shape of the distributions. 3 Marks QUESTION 3 [4 marks] The researcher wishes to use numerical descriptive measures to summarize the data. a) Prepare a numerical summary report for the one variable in your data set by including summary measures such as mean, median, range, variance, standard deviation, smallest and largest values and the three quartiles, for each variable. 2 marks b) Comment on the descriptive statistics. 2 marks QUESTION 4 [5 marks] Write a statistical report.
