In prior metacognitive discussion forums, the concept of learning styles appeared many times (usually when people were saying that they are visual or auditory learners). Most teachers and students believe that student learning styles are important for learning, except for everyone that has studied the issue in the past century. Do these arguments seem convincing? If not, why not? If learning styles really do not have any relationship to student learning, how might a belief in them cause harm to students that believe that they can only learn effectively using their "learning style?"
